A new fun thing to do!

So one of my colleagues and very good friends, Sandy Oehler and her family recently bought a new business - It's called Games2U Entertainment and it is pretty freaking awesome!  It's a mobile entertainment unit.. so in basic terms- HUGE TV's on the inside and outside of a conversion van where you can play X-Box and Wii and they have all the newest games. They also bring with them laser tag, human hamster balls, a robot and booger wars (sounds gross huh?!). What a FUN idea for a cook out, sorority/fraternity mixer, tailgate corporate event, Birthday party - anything really.  I will be doing some work on the side for Sandy and have gone over to 'train' a few times - I must say it's a lot of fun for Kids & Adults.   To  learn more visit their website at www.g2u.com or call (919) 455-3411 - Tell Sandy that Heather sent you!

Here are a few pictures so you can see how cool this is!

The van:

All opened up, ready for someone to play some Wii!

The Inside of the van- complete with fun lights and a fog machine!

Why I never give money.. and no longer food... to BUMS

I consider myself a charitable person...I always donate when I can - mostly to Lung Cancer, Make A Wish, Chi Omega.. etc. My minor is in Non-profit studies, I work for a non-profit, and am usually a compassionate person... That being said.... the rest of this blog post may not be PC.

Monday night Bo & I were on our way to dinner.  We were at a stop light pulling onto I-540 and there was a very unfortunate looking bum begging on the median.  He saw my NC State license plate and happened to have a Disney Big Bad Wolf t-shirt on - the bum then started pointing to my license plate, and strutting his WOLF t-shirt.  Bo and I thought it was pretty funny and so me being the 'charitable' person  I am felt the need to give him my emergency snacks in my glove box.

I decided to give the bum some food - I rolled down my window less than half way and put the cheese-its and granola bar out the window and the Bum TOOK OFF his shirt and threw it in my window!!!! and said he wanted me to have his shirt - (You can't make this stuff up).  I threw it back out the window as FAST as possible along with the snacks and then the light turned GREEN and I was OUT of there!

Need less to say I had the HE-BE- G-BEs  after touching that nasty shirt --- and of course BO was LAUGHING hysterically at me. Let's just said, I washed my hands a FEW times.

On a Semi Serious note - My sophomore year in college my roomie, Diana told me not to look at bums when we went to NYC - Well Diana, you were right no more looking at or giving food to bums, I promise!

But on a real serious note - I think there are great programs out there for homeless people - Salvation Army is a wonderful one for example - and there needs to be more done for them -however, I do not believe in people begging in this country and do not feel that it is necessary.  I know what you are saying - there are many reasons why people are homeless - alcohol, drugs, economy etc. - well why should I give you money - I would much rather give you food, teach you a skill and a new set of clothes - Systemic change people... not alcohol funding.

So Proud!

I have the most AMAZING friends EVER! They inspire me every day.  This weekend, my best friend, Diana did the Disney's Princess Half Marathon with her sister! I am so proud of you Diana! Your hard work and training truly paid off!  Congrats on finishing your first half marathon!

Tampa & Lung Cancer better watch out!

So very excited!  A group of crazy North Carolinians- including myself - will be attending the National Lung Cancer Advocacy Summit in Tampa next month!   I booked my flight today and I am SO ready to get down to sunny Florida!
The goal of the
Lung Cancer Advocacy Summit is to empower advocates by providing them with training, resources, knowledge and courage to go back to their communities and take action!

How blessed I am to be able to do this for a living!

Kahlua Dog

This is Kahlua - She is our dog - Half Jack Russell (Bo saw the mom)----- and half Shepherd- I think???--- Funny story about Kdog - today I went to pet her when I got home and she was standing next to Bo - She got a little excited and peed ALOT - all over Bo's foot.  Now she isn't a puppy any more but I was laughing so hard I couldn't move to go get a rag to clean it up. Maybe you had to be there! <3
